Ya know, it never seems to matter how hard you work, or how much your manager's say they like you or that you are doing a good job.  When it comes to budget cuts and what not they never seem to care about any of that.  So today I lost my job (again) due to budget cuts and my contract not being renewed.  The worst part of it all is that it's not the job loss that bothers me, it's how it was handled.  Instead of my manager coming to tell me what was going on, I get a call from my contracting agency twenty minutes before quiting time telling me that they got a call from my boss.  They say that they weren't sure but they think it's because my contract officially ends today (despite me never being told this) and that they won't need me to go back out on Monday.  Best part of it all, my manager was supposed to talk to me today and let me know, instead she's gone for the afternoon and noone can get ahold of her.  Supposedly she's the only one who knows.  Anyway enough of my whining it's just a job after all, even though I expect a little bit of courtesy when these thing happen.

Faaaaaaaahhhhhkkkkk.  I hate it when it's all rainy and dark.  So of course today it has to be dark and rainy when I wake up in the morning.  My body doesn't function without lot of sunshine, so whenever it's rainy I always get into these stupid funky moods.   Anyway  today is sure to be a slow day again, which means I'm going to be working on boring work to keep busy today.  At least it's wednesday :)

So last night I dragged Peg and Kate over to Blue Flame tatoo and piercing parlor here in Raleigh.  I finally had enough free cash and time to actually go get the tattoos i've been wanting for several years now....   They are the kanji that that mean Energy, Vitality, and Willpower (ryoku and ki)  Anyhow, I'm extremely pleased with how they turned out, the artist actually did them so that they look just like the brush strokes that would be used for writing the kanji.  Mark (the artist) was very personable and did one hell of a job, I'll definitely be going back for the rest of my tattoos soon.  Hopefully I'll have some pictures to put up soon!

Subject:	I think I've been living in a cave......

So, anyhow I generally like to think of myself as a musically diverse person. On a daily basis you can find me listening to anything from Bach to Nine Inch Nails or Paul Oakenfold. Hell half the time my personal mixes are so fucked up it's doubtful you'd think they should be put together on the same playlist. Well this month I had a wakeup call to the fact that, apparently, I've been living in a cave (musically speaking that is). A friend of mine introduced me to this thing called "Surf Rock". When she first brought this up to me my first thought was "Umm, you mean the Beach Boys.... right????". Of course what she meant was something very different, and I must admit very cool by comparison. So anyhow, I've been introduced to this new type of music along with tons of new ska that I'd never heard of. Needless to say I think I need to spend a little more time with my music so I can be sure I don't miss anything.

On a totally unrelated note, after a lot of soul searching these last few months, I've decided it's time to go back to school. If I don't do this I don't think I'm ever going to be happy, no matter how many networks I design or repair. It seems on a day to day basis my job cannot hold my interest, and I don't generally feel as though I've accomplished anything no matter how hard I work. So I'm going to go back to school, bite the bullet, and finish my degree in astrophysics. I think a nice research job or even a job teaching theoretical sciences at a college level may be what I'm looking for.

Well since is this my first attempt at a livejournal, please bear with me as I reacquaint myself with writing my thoughts. Sadly, my first entry is going to be a small rant.

To start, I love my job. It's usually lots of fun, however it seems that about once a week I run into a complete moron. Now thats not to say that these folks are just plain dumb it's more like they just don't listen. I'd love for someone to explain to me why some people feel the need to try and do the exact opposite of what I tell them they need to do, even when I've told them 3 times already what to do. ARRRRR!!!

Well at least they pay me well!
